I Love Gnomes

Wow I have been super busy! Sorry for the lack of updates, working on more comics actually =)
I am both extremely excited and saddened with the new patch today. Things are changing dramatically and I have to relearn how to play my characters again.

Have fun!

Hai!

This is a quick post about myself. As you all probably already know... at least I hope you do by now, I play World of Warcraft. I used to play an obsessive amount, but I backed down to see sunlight again and experience this thing called real life. I am an art education major with interests in illustration and comics. I am also engaged to a lovely man-thing I met in World of Warcraft with two kittens who love eating my computer cords. -.-

Older Screenshot of my druid, but I thought it was pretty.

I first started playing on a rp (role playing) realm. It's pretty much exactly like you have it pictured in your mind currently. People would seriously stop in the middle of heroics enjoying snacks next to the fire. Not only did they stop and eat their snacks, they would speak about the instance, in character... oO I didn't mind the role playing atmosphere, but I would rather not spend 30 minutes enjoying an imaginary snack in a video game... I want to kill shit and get purples.

In my quest to raid, I had the opportunity to leave and explore other realms. I joined a guild name Exalted, became pro and later raided in top 100 US guilds. Crazy eh? I had a good deal of fun times with friends, dead dragons and purples.

I DOOOO miss raiding with established raiding guilds, but guilds want a crazy amount of dedicated hours that I just cannot devote to right now. Real life > WoW.

My druid has seem some fun times, but I have moved on to heal on a priest and a shaman. Also picked up a dps toon to shoot things. Also slowly leveling a pally, to heal on eventually.
My Druid again in Burning Crusade.

New Layout

Patience please =) Working on a new layout I found. I liked how nice it looked, but my ability to edit code is horrible. I promise comics soon!!!!!

Nerd Raging. [NSFW]

In raids I tend to become Milton in raids when encountering nerd ragers. Maybe I project to them that I am fresh meat when I speak on vent. I am NOT super ridiculous on vent, but I mumble and stutter a bit when I get extremely angry. Just as people interrupt me and absolutely ignore the points I am making, I can feel like Milton from Office Space.

Office Space

[NSFW] [Language] Nerd Ragers

An Internet Tough Guy talks big online, but IRL is a total basement-dweller. Most internet tough guys are into computer programming or at the bare minimum, love video gaming. The typical Internet Tough Guy can be found in nearly every community on LJ but often resides in his parent's basement, for at least 7 days a week. From furry communities to political communities, the internet tough guy is one of many stock users that make up a community.

When encountering these types of people I would recommend the following:

  • Take off your headset when someone makes a mistake (and it's not you). This is of course if you want to stay in the raid with the Nerd Raging.
  • If you are the person who did make the mistake, even if every bone in your body wants to fight back against their accusations... don't. You can leave, or just take it as a grain of salt and move on. These people tend to think they are right, no matter the situation. Arguing with these people only leads to the situation being escalated with you looking like a fool or your removal from the raid.
  • Pin point the people on your realm that exhibit this behavior in raids. If you know it will upset you, then just don't put yourself in the position to deal with it. After all a game is a game and you SHOULD enjoy who you play with for the most part, granted you may not like everyone.
  • Personalities like this are everywhere on the internet, learning how to deal with them will only enhance your enjoyment of the game.
I witness this regularly through raiding in pugs with others, not necessarily myself being yelled at.  Although in the end, you are just justifying their need to make a scene by giving them a reason to continue screaming at you through vent. In my honest opinion, mistakes happen, be angry at the mistake and not the person.

Multi-tasking.

And yes...this is how the pros heal.
I have noticed a scary amount of multi-tasking in raids...erm *coughs* including myself in raids. In all honesty, when you are raiding in pugs, the content at times as a healer is extremely easy to heal or extremely hard. It tends to be of two extremes, either a.) 3/4th of the raid does stupid things and requires healing (requiring the healers to carry them) b.) the other healers are asleep at their keyboards out of boredom or drooling and sniping each other's healing. Because of these extremes, I find myself either overachieving... "OMGAZ MUST DO A BILLIONTY IN HEALS!... MUST ANNIHILATE THE OTHER HEALERS ON METERS..." The result of this is actually an empty mana bar and what should realistically be more overhealing. But hey it's a pug and you can't count on the other healers to actually be awake. The other extreme is, I am alt-tabing watching You-Tube.

Sorry?

One other result of these two extremes are the changes in the upcoming expansion Cata. They are going to reward us for our ADHD by giving us more of an incentive to use damaging spells.
"SMITE SMITE SMITE SMITE SMITE... FLASH HEAL... RENEW... DOT... SMITE SMITE SMITE SMITE SMITE....."

I am partial to the changes, this does give me something to do when we out gear the content... and it distracts me.... BUT I will probably not be healing when I should be healing.

Poor tank.

Lootship.

One would think that doing a simple ship combat would be easy in a pug right?
When raiding with a guild, we steamrolled through gunship, no problems ever.

"OH HAI GUISE CAN WE DO HEROIC?!"  (even though we don't truly know the fight)

New to pugging at the time, I said omg YES! It's SO easy... I was pretty confident in my ability to do the fight and with the 30% buff... come on, free purples.

People stood in the bombs... ok... can heal through it. People randomly jumping off the side... ok... they fixed it lawls so they don't fall to their deaths...

Another thing, most everyone stared at the loot box as if they were trying to will the purples to appear. I did try this for some time and nothing happened.
I concluded people hang out in two places, 1.) at the loot box and 2.) off the ship falling, conveniently being teleported back to the ship, just to fall again.

Now I realize, most pugs can't dodge the explosions on heroic mode. This is probably why most of the raid spent their time off the boat. =/

Everyone wants to jump over to the Horde boat... but no one wants to actually kill the mage. I see a single rogue on the Horde boat trying their hardest to kill the mage. I feel so sorry that I actually offer to jump over as a healer to nuke the mage.

Often although, you have healers who want to really use their jet-packs.... myself being one of those healers.
You also have healers who constantly need to ask if they NEED to jump. Those healers asking, don't realize that you can heal from the Alliance boat. Could also be that they want to use the jet-packs like me, although I doubt that.

"HEY GUISE CAN WE KILL THE MAGES IN THE BACK OF THE HORDE SHIP?"

They ask if it's possible to kill the mage orgy even when they fail to kill the mage who is currently freezing the Alliance cannons.

That poor rogue.

Well on average, after a boring 11-14 minute fight. I loose my purples to one of those guys who didn't know how to use the cannons, jump, kill the mage, use their packs, or tank the spawning adds.

Tanks.

I HATE BEING IN PUGS WITH DISTRACTED TANKS. If you are tanking.. don't watch south park... ok? As a Healer and a Ranged DPS, I hate throwing one heal, or attacking the mob and it running to me immediately and hitting me... after the tank body pulls.

---------------
Gear Score.
I really consider it to be more of a epeen check then an actual skill/ability/gear checker. You can stack PVP gear in ICC to get to 6k GS... PVP gear in PVE....... I am not talking like maybe one or two pieces, I am talking about a resto shaman using enhance pvp gear just to get their GS higher. Since when was it ok to use attack power on ANYTHING as a resto shaman.
Also the gear checking has become a bit insane. When you get in a pug and 6+ people leave because one person sneaked through the gear check with 245 gear... it gets a bit tiring.

Wait people like to be carried but at this point the 30% buff is carrying most everyone. I just want my purples.
I should really be doing my homework.... but I really want my purples.
